The Bible in a Year: 2025-26
The Image Bearer
I know, this is funny, starting a goal to read the Bible in one year, especially since the year is almost half over. Good thing I don’t mean Calendar year. And here we are.
Since I was a child, I have never felt comfortable in my in own skin. It took a fairly traumatic season in my life (a lot of curveballs in a very short period of time), to get me this comfortable with who I am. I say this, as I listen to the ongoing culture wars, because I am not alone. We are all searching for purpose… those of us approaching middle age, are trying to reconcile that we did not accomplish our childhood dreams, and we have lost sight of very precious truth.
We are image bearers of the One True God, and stand to inherit His kingdom. That’s right, you are a child of His. A ruler of his Domain. A princess or prince of the Everlasting Kingdom. Pretty heavy stuff!
Please join me as I write scribblings starting in Genesis 1, and end in Revelations some 365 days later. I want to take this journey with a focus of what it means to carry such a heavy burden, and what it means for us.
After each series of verses, we will reflect and aim to answer these four questions:
1) How does this passage relate to the concept of humans bearing God's image?
2) What does it reveal about God's character?
3) How does it influence how I see myself and others?
4) How does it affect how I live?
This is exciting! And I look forward to growing a deeper relationship with our Holy Father, and by the end, being a step closer to the Princess I am meant to be. It is time to bloom in the seasons we are planted in.
